I was born in Manchester, grew up and began my working life in Somerset
and now live in Monmouth, Wales.

I make work about what time leaves behind.

I’ve worked as a professional calligrapher for roughly forty years and was elected a Fellow of the London-based Society of Scribes and Illuminators in 1992.

Now I’m using what I learned about line, rhythm, balance and space to make work which leaves room for chance and discovery.

Paper, paint and marks that need not be read carry the evidence of my working process, decisions accumulated over time.

I want each piece to have a physical presence that is grounding, enduring and made to be lived with.
